Heather is lovely, talented, and patient. All you need to do is show up and she'll transform you into the pregnant goddess you are! A co-worker referred her to me and I am so happy that we chose her. Our first shoot was by the water but a storm was coming in the next day and it was very windy. We did two dressing changes and then decided to reschedule. She was so sweet to allow us to reschedule. She was intent on us being happy. We reshot at the park and I couldn't be happier with our results! I feel so special to have a couple beach shots I love and so many park shots! Maternity Photographer - Pacific Palisades

Although my specialty is beach maternity photography, I love shooting anywhere outdoors! Last weekend, I took my clients to Temescal Canyon Gateway Park in the Pacific Palisades and we sure did have fun!

I always bring the wardrobe for my pregnancy shoots and want my clients to have a wonderful experience in addition to beautiful photography! The flowers were blooming and everything was great and it was a perfect day for beautiful maternity photography!

I'm going to shoot in Solana Beach tomorrow and I'm getting very excited! I love chasing the sun set up and down the California coast and the beach where I shoot is so beautiful!

It was cold and windy at the beach last weekend. I shot beach maternity photo shoots in Malibu and also in Seal Beach. I also did one shoot at Temescal Canyon where there were flowers blooming everywhere....quite a treat for mid- February!

Despite the cold weather and windy conditions, my clients were adventurous and we got some beautiful shots! You can't fake real wind!!

Winter light is so beautiful! The light is farther from the earth and for a photographer shooting at sunset, it's dreamy!

There are such bad examples on the web for good maternity picture poses by so called "experts", I thought it best to show examples of my work of how it really is suuposed to look.

Whether you live in California or if you live in the United States (as I'm always available to travel to see pregnant bellies), everyone should see some examples of good maternity photography!

I have been photographing pregnant women and their families for more than 12 years and it is always my job to make my clients look beautifl (not fat!).

Exceptional photographer and session = exceeded expectations.I never thought I would do belly shots nor thought I would have any reason to do so. But when my 3-year-old expressed interest in seeing what he might have looked like while he was inside mommy's tummy and I realized I had no pregnancy shots to show him, I decided at 32 weeks carrying twins that I wanted to document this special and final pregnancy.My brother is a professional fashion photographer, so I have high expectations. Since I had a narrow time frame to get the shots done, I decided on a whim to search the internet for someone locally who did maternity shots. My amazing pregnancy photos by Heather Hart

I’m forever indebted to Heather Hart of A La Mode Photo for capturing this time in my life, just 2 weeks before my perfect preemie arrived. I wanted to share these very special photos (and life moments) she took of our family if you’re expecting or have a loved one due soon, as the experience was wonderful.

You may remember I told you about Heather in a previous post here on OC Family where I mentioned I was *thinking* about having photos taken, but was unsure as I wasn’t feeling particularly glamorous (close to 50 pounds up). I never had shots taken with my other kids as they both came too early for my planning and I just wasn’t sure of the images I’d often seem captured (some too intimate, some in awkward attire and so on).

Shortly after my last post on Heather, she and I decided to do the shoot. (And just in time, as I said my son came 5 weeks early. Thank you Heather for quickly squeezing me in!)

So let me just say how fantastic Heather was! She surpassed all my expectations in many ways. I adored the outfits I wore here, which she brings to the shoots for you (what a relief to not worry about what fits and will look right). She made me feel glam which I didn’t think possible. She was fun and upbeat and worked great with the kids. The shoot was fast (under an hour). And I really liked the beach location; I feel I can share these with others (not too intimate) and love having the artful, breezy shots on my walls at home. Also, Heather was really fabulous in the proofing stages (helping me select shots and she created an amazing oversized modern shot of my “all hands on belly” photo here; if interested ask about the 20×24 Museum Gallery print mounted on aluminum).

Heather also captured many beautiful impromptu moments like my kids on the beach here below. I really admired her artistic eye and style; her stylized work has very creative elements you definitely don’t find everyday. And that’s right up my alley. Finally, know that these are just a handful of shots she took; I selected over 20 probably for prints.

I really am so grateful for Heather’s talents and for meeting her (thanks to the wonderful Kristina Godfrey of Sanders Godfrey PR). The memories I have here are irreplaceable.

Once again A La Mode Photo received a wonderful review from one of our clients. I took her maternity pictures earlier in the year and now, during the holiday season, I took family pictures with her baby. I shot Joy in the fields up in the Malibu/Santa Monica Mountains and she was such a wonderful maternity model. This holiday season, I was blessed to meet Joy's baby and husband during their family shoot which we shot in Santa Monica at a local hiking trail. Temescal Canyon is a wonderful place to take baby pictures. With big trees and protected from the elements, it's always wonderful shooting family pictures there.

After I read such a sweet review of what Debbie Lavdas wrote, we took some pictures!! Yes, I met her and her beautiful family at sunset in Seal Beach and we had a great time!

Beautiful Maternity Portraits

Many of my clients come to me for their pregnancy portrait because they feel fat! Well, when you are looking down at your belly, it is not as beautiful as when someone is looking AT you. You feel wide and sometimes you can't even see your feet!

This is why it's important to hire a professional maternity photographer. Not all maternity photographers believe that it is their job to make their clients look beautiful, but I certainly do!

I bring all of the wardrobe for my clients and want them to be my model for the day. We usually meet at the beach or at a local hiking grounds and I create my magic!. I wrap my clients in different pieces of material and bring a huge bag of wardrobe and we just go out and have fun!

Moments later, my clients are enjoying their pregnancy photography experience and then the pictures just flow. I usually shoot for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours and change wardrobe many different times.

Pregnancy Photography - Tips For The Belly!

For my maternity photo sessions, I am one of the only photographers in the country who actually believes that it is my job to create your outfits for you. Many photographers say that they are maternity photographers but they do not understand how to accent the belly and make you look good.

If you cannot find a professional who understands how to make your belly look beautiful and not fat, here are some maternity photography tips that will need for your maternity photo session:

1. Find a friend.
Since you are the pregnant model, you need someone who has a few hours to dedicate to you and your Belly!

2. Try using a filter on your camera lens. Go to a camera store and ask for a filter that will accent the colors…I promise it will be worth it!

A little base and accent your eyes! Since you're shooting outdoors, keep it light!

My personal favorite is a beach location for maternity photo sessions. Anywhere that is natural and beautiful will be perfect.

4. Wear something that shows off your pregnant belly and will look good in both black and white and color photos. I like to wrap my pregnant clients in material to accentuate the belly while the excess fabric flows romantically in the wind.

5. Don’t be afraid to change your poses and have fun!

Why do my pregnancy pictures look beautiful? Because I have the expertise to make my clients look beautiful! Maternity photography is an art...your wedding photographer is not qualified to shoot maternity pictures.

I bring the wardrobe for my clients and I understand how to make the belly look beautiful so you don't look like you are wearing a moo moo dress! (And yes, I know you know what I mean).

I found this wonderful cove near San Diego at Solana Beach and boy was it spectacular shooting there! I love shooting at different beaches up and down the coast. So, in addition to shooting in the Los Angeles area at beaches such as Hermosa Beach, Santa Monica and Malibu, I travel south to Laguna, Seal Beach and also Oceanside and Solana Beach. It makes it so much fun!

I receive many calls from photographers who ask me what I use to wrap my clients. My response: it's just material. And yes it is. But I have the technique and expertise that my clients need and deserve. I believe that every pregnant woman is beautiful and it's my job to make them look like a model.

More and more I see such bad maternity picctures that I need to post a little something for everyone to read. Pregnancy photography is supposed to make your belly model look beautiful not look like a cow!

Well I know that is obvious but perhaps not. Pregnancy pictures should accent the belly and make each indivual look beautiful not look like they are wearing a tent dress. This is why I bring the wardrobe for my clients and I make them look beautiful!

I shot this woman's maternity photo session in Malibu at the beach at sunset. It was winter light and it was so beautiful. She had the best belly and she was such a pleasure to work with! Since I bring all of the wardrobe, I made her look like a queen with her awesome belly!

Most of my clients return with their baby for their family photo session which is always so sweet! I usually recommend getting pictures when your baby is still super small but has already developed their personality...around 4 - 9 months is best! They are still so baby but they laugh and giggle and really show off in front of the camera. I shot this lovely woman about 10 months ago and she returned with the cutest bald baby ever and her adorable husband.

This couple has so much love for their baby boy! The mother even made a comment that she can't believe how much love that she has for this littel being. Well, yes, she is a mommy!

I love my job! I become part of people's families. I can't wait to see them in about 5 months for their updated family Christmas pictures!

When Grandpas are so sweet and show up in a suit blazer to their A La Mode Photo family photo shoot, I just want to scream "hooray"!

How lucky this little girl Olivia is to have such a wonderfully sweet family! Grandpa is such a sweet soul and her mommy has "love" written all over her face.

This the second time that I have shot little Olivia. The first time (six months earlier), Grandpa also showed up in a beautiful gray blazer. Really, it does not get any better than this? In a country filled with people in t-shirts and flip flops, it is nice to see a man dressed nicely. As I say to my son when he gets all dressed up, "You Look So Smart"! Heather is an amazingly talented

photographer!!!

You will absolutely love her and the beautiful photos that she takes!! I do not consider myself to be very photogenic (especially not at 8 months pregnant), so I went into the photo shoot hoping to get a few decent pictures... however, ALL of the photos turned out so beautiful!! There are so many fantastic shots that now I am having a very difficult time deciding which ones to print and frame!!

Heather is so sweet and makes you feel so comfortable and beautiful, which really comes through in the pictures! We did our pregnancy/ belly photo shoot on the beach in Malibu with myself, my husband, and our rambuctious 80 lb yellow lab ... I thought trying to include our pet into the shoot might be stressful but Heather was so patient with him and we got some wonderful pictures with him!

Heather changed my outfit about 8-10 times, so all of the photos look so different! I can't say enough good things about Heather as a person and as a professional!

I am really looking forward to our next photo shoot with her after our baby is born!

Maternity Photography San Diego and Oceanside

This morning I zipped down the coast to meet a pregnant woman and her sweet husband in Oceanside. She is a good friend of a really nice client of mine and I was happy to meet her in Oceanside. New beaches, new rocks...great waves! It was a fun experience for us all! She is due in 3 weeks and her belly was perfectly ripe for photography! After a few hours of doing my magic (that is, making her into a beautiful belly model), I zipped back to Santa Monica to meet some old clients with a 2 year old and a 4 year old. A La Mode Photo/Military Wives

Recently, I have been doing maternity shoots for many wives of personnel in the military service! Their spouses are out on a mission in Iraq or Afganistan and they want to send picture of themselves and their belly babies so that they can share in the joy together!

Of course they want to look fabulous so they call A La Mode Photo where we provide all of the wardrobe and create a wonderful experience in addition to beautiful photography! We also provide slideshows of every shoot via email so it is wonderful to be able to send the link to the spouses far away.

Our recent client, Leidy, whose husband is stationed in Afganistan, came up to Los Angeles from San Diego for her maternity photo shoot with us! We made her look fabulous ! When everything was ready, Leidy was able to send her husband a link of her slide show from her maternitiy photo shoot.
